The Office of Consumer Defense of the Municipality of Asunción promoted various nightly fumigation jobs in red zones that represent foci of mosquito breeding sites.

The fumigations were centralized in Market 4, considering that It constitutes the main place of influx of people in the capital.

Guillermo Fernández, director of the Directorate of Consumer Defense of the Municipality of Asunción, explained that The purpose of the fumigation work is to fight the sources of contagion that are located in crowded areas.

“All the employees of the fumigation office are forced to carry out fumigation work at night. The Market is a conducive place for contagion, which is why we deploy night brigades for work in order to fight this scourge,” said the senior municipal official.

Regarding the refusal of some permit holders, Fernández assured that his portfolio has the oObligation to comply with the health ordinances that apply. However, the work to control sanitary conditions is carried out explaining to the permit holders their rights as obligations to consumers.

“We have an obligation to comply with the ordinances. But we are talking with the permit holders to gain access to their premises. This fight against dengue and chikungunya should be everyone’s obligation, ”he explained.
