“I have no words, thanks to everyone, my coaches, my family, my friends. whole Venezuela. I have fought against everything and I am still standing here showing that nothing is impossible in life, ”the Venezuelan wrote in her official Instagram account.
Both started the fight studying each other and keeping their distance, but Salazar was the one who managed to get the first point. Then, when Ozcelik tried to connect a blow to the Venezuelan’s face, she was able to dodge it and gave a direct backhand kick to the European’s head to earn an ippon, which is three units.
That maneuver broke the number one in the world and then fell with another movement of the Creole athlete. Salazar then blocked an attack from Arapoglu and quickly unleashed another right kick to his opponent’s chest. However, this action was evaluated repeatedly by the judges, to see which of the two had connected first, and they decided in favor of the Venezuelan.
With that waza-ari he added two more units to his scoreboard, to have a much wider 5-0 lead, Salazar’s lead was extended to 5-0. Later, his coach requested another review considering that Salazar had made a new ippon that could have ended the confrontation, but the movement was not valid this time.
With 30 seconds left in the match, he racked up another point with a yuko that ended up giving him his first golden victory in a competition of this kind.
