Venezuela stands in solidarity with the people of Cuba after the fire

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, expressed this Saturday his solidarity with the people of Cuba, due to the large-scale fire that was generated at the Supertanker Base in Matanzas.

This was announced on his Twitter account, where he also expressed to the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Cane, the disposition of the Government Bolivarian to provide the necessary help.

“The whole of Venezuela stands in solidarity with Cuba and the people of Matanzas, in the face of the accident that occurred at the Supertanker Base. Receive the Bolivarian hug, you are not alone! We are fully available to provide the necessary help. President Miguel Díaz-Canel can count on us,” Maduro wrote.

The Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Relations also issued a statement to send its support to the people and Government of Cuba after the fire.

The “Bolivarian Government extends its deepest condolences to the families and close friends of the victims” and “expresses its firm willingness to collaborate with the Homeland of Martí and Fidel to face this event,” the document refers. .

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela expresses its deep regret to the brotherly People and Government of the Republic of Cuba, due to the fire that has been taking place since yesterday night at a super tanker base located in the city of Matanzas, north of western Cuba.

Faced with this terrible event, which brings with it an unfortunate balance of injured and missing persons, the Bolivarian Government extends its deepest condolences to the families and close friends of the victims; At the same time, it expresses its firm willingness to collaborate with the Homeland of Martí and Fidel to face this event.

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates, at a time of such deep sorrow, its unwavering solidarity with the brotherly People and Government of the Republic of Cuba, which with admirable courage and fortitude face this unfortunate incident that mourns Cuban men and women.

On Friday night there was a large fire in the industrial area of ​​Matanzas, due to an electrical discharge caused by a storm, which impacted the 52 crude oil storage tank.

However, the situation became more complex despite the efforts of the firefighters, since the flames reached a second fuel tank, which caused new explosions during the early hours.

So far, Cuban authorities confirm 67 people injured and 17 missing.
