Venezuela stands in solidarity with Nigeria after refinery explosion

This Sunday, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Félix Plasencia, sent a word of solidarity and encouragement to the people and government of Nigeria, in the face of the tragedy caused by the explosion of a refinery last Friday, April 22.

Through his Twitter account, @plasenciafelixr, the head of the Foreign Relations portfolio extended words of condolences, strength and faith to the families of the victims.

“From Venezuela we send our words of solidarity and encouragement to the brother people and government of Nigeria in the face of the tragedy caused by the explosion of a refinery on April 22. We extend our condolences and a lot of strength and faith to the families of the victims,” ​​he said.

The explosion that occurred on Friday night in the Ohaji-Egbema area, in the Imo province of Nigeria, left at least 100 dead.

The explosion was apparently caused by a fire in two fuel storage areas where more than 100 people worked, official sources said.

A large number of workers were caught in the blast while others tried to flee by running into a wooded area.
