Venezuela reviews actions to consolidate mutual cooperation with ASEAN countries

The Vice Minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Capaya Rodríguez, met with the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Foreign Trade, Johann Álvarez, with the aim of reviewing the results of the tour made by the Venezuelan diplomat through five countries belonging to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

Capaya described the main topics discussed with the high authorities in the areas of economy, trade and investment, as well as the commitments made in each of the countries, both at the government level and with the chambers of commerce and industry, with the aim of promote the national production plan, in accordance with the instructions of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry reported.

In turn, he proposed that Vice Minister Álvarez offer a conference to the heads of Mission of the Embassies of the Asean countries accredited in Caracas, with the intention of promoting Venezuela as “the best country in the world”, by virtue of the remarkable current economic progress.

For his part, the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade affirmed that the countries with the greatest stability and economic growth are located in Asia, and that during his recent participation in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (Unctad), in Geneva, he confirmed that many of them are interested in Venezuela, a country they see as an economic miracle.

He highlighted the need to establish technical cooperation and learn about the tariff regulations of each nation, in order to promote Venezuelan products, effectively increase trade relations, encourage a balance between imports and exports.
