Venezuela and Türkiye agree to promote binational investments

Venezuela and Türkiye signed an agreement on Friday regarding the “Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments”, better known as the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT).

The signing of the agreement was in charge of the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil for Venezuela, and Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye.

The purpose of this agreement is to establish, maintain and consolidate a legal framework that facilitates and promotes direct investment, in order to promote the harmonious, productive and sustainable development of both States.

This agreement reiterates the willingness of both governments to strengthen alliances in the areas of politics, defense, mining, energy, air and maritime transport, diplomacy, economy, trade and finance, security, education, culture, science and technology, tourism, communication, agriculture, youth and sports, industry, fishing, aquaculture and health.

Foreign Minister Iván Gil arrived this Friday at Turkiye to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hakan Fidan to continue deepening cooperation ties between both nations.

The relationship between Ankara and Caracas is based on respect, cooperation and solidarity; manifested through the support that the Turkish nation has provided by serving as a bridge that allows evading illegitimate and illegal operations and the economic blockade.

The result of this path of cooperation, initiated by Commander Hugo Chávez, was materialized with the development in 2009 with the creation of the Mixed Cooperation Commission, in addition to the signing of more than 20 bilateral agreements, in favor of both Peoples.

To date, there have been multiple high-level visits, which correspond to seven made by the first national president, Nicolás Maduro Moros, to the Turkish nation.
