Venezuela and Guinea-Bissau strengthen comprehensive cooperation

In order to contribute to binational agreements, the support of political and diplomatic relations between the Bolivarian nation and Guinea-Bissau, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, receives his Bisau-Guinean colleague at the Miraflores Palace, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, thus leading the second meeting between the two leaders.

In relation to this second official visit to consolidate cooperation relations, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yvan Gil, said, after receiving it this Sunday, that the President of the African country (West Africa that covers 36,125 km²), “reaffirms the ties of historical brotherhood that unite our nations and the desire to continue advancing in the construction of a comprehensive cooperation map.

The first meeting of both Presidents was held on November 2, 2022, in the Simón Bolívar room of the Miraflores Palace, from which the signing of a Joint Declaration that prioritizes strategic associations in the economy, oil, air connection, health and housing emerged. for joint development.

From the Bolivarian Government House, the Venezuelan Head of State explained that the two nations will strive to increase bilateral trade so that “the economy of both parties grows together.”

On that occasion, the Dignitary placed at the order of Guinea Bissau “all the historical knowledge, science and technique” of Venezuela in the oil sector.

“We have already explored several plans that we are going to put into operation to support Guinea Bissau in all exploration tasks on its coasts, cooperation between the oil industries,” Maduro specified, while, in terms of air connection, the Head of The Venezuelan state announced that “we are going to unite our air lines to connect Africa with South America.”

He also stated on that occasion that Venezuela will grant places for 100 students from Guinea Bissau at the Latin American School of Medicine “Dr. Salvador Allende” (ELAM).

The alliances between Guinea-Bissau and Venezuela date from April 6, 2006, under the command of Commander Hugo Chávez.

In 2008, both parties signed the Cooperation Framework Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding to establish consultation mechanisms.

From 2006 to 2022, there are 18 agreements in the areas of politics, agriculture, mining, communication and information, health and education, as well as technical cooperation, recognition of titles, the fight against drugs, suppression of visas and defense, the latter revised last June during a meeting between the Defense Minister of Guinea Bissau, Sandji Fati, and the Venezuelan ambassador, Eldan Domínguez Forty.
