The president of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vasquez, indicated that the Government of Pedro Castillo is the first interested in clarifying the situation of Bruno Pacheco, former secretary general of the Presidential Office, whom the Public Ministry investigates for the presumed pressure exerted on the head of Sunat, Luis Enrique Vera, to favor private companies.
In fact, during the preliminary proceedings, carried out last week, the Prosecutor’s Office found $ 20,000 in cash inside a closet located in the bathroom of the office used by Pacheco Castillo.
In this regard, the prime minister said, in dialogue with TV Peru: “We are aware that it is a very delicate situation. And we are the first interested in that this investigation advances and that it can be clarified as soon as possible, because it puts the government in a complex situation ”. He stressed that “it is important that this can be resolved in the fastest possible time.”
“I, in particular, believe that I will be following closely how these investigations are developed and we will be attentive to hope that they progress with them. Of course, require that, within the framework of what is being established, the corresponding responsibilities are identified”He added.
Bruno Pacheco is also questioned for allegedly having interfered in the promotion processes of the Army and the Peruvian Air Force (FAP).
“Executive has all the disposition to correct things”
On the other hand, the chief of the cabinet stated that the country is experiencing “one of the worst political situations” and that it is not healthy to generate instability and submit vacancies, as this impacts governance.
“People are waiting for them to attend to health and education issues. We have a thousand problems and we are locked in a confrontation. I think we have to get over that, ”he declared. He added that it is important not only to build bridges again, but also to give signals and that the Executive is giving them with the aim of moving forward.
“From the Government we are giving signs of wanting to move forward. We are a young government because we barely have more than 100 days. We have to recognize that we are liable to have made mistakes, but it has also been shown that the Executive has all the willingness to correct things ”, he concluded.
