Vanesa Montero: Venezuela continues to show the world that it is free

The second vice president of the National Assembly (AN), Vanesa Montero, accompanied the Great March on the 20th anniversary of the rescue of National Dignity, after the coup against Commander Hugo Chávez, where she commented that Venezuela once again tells the world that it is “free and sovereign”.

“For us, as youth, it is gratifying to know this story that the Venezuelan people have left us, how those heroes and heroines were able to go out and demand that Commander Chávez should return to power. It is a day of dignity for all,” Montero said.

The also General Secretary of the Somos Venezuela Movement, praised the work of women and youth for the restoration of democracy in Venezuela. She assured that the country continues to see itself reflected in that historical feat “where every man, woman and young person had the courage to overcome the coup and assert his vote.”

The deputy added that the AN continues to protect the people, their dignity, after the attacks by right-wing deputies in 2002 and again in 2015.

“Today the people are back in the Assembly, after they had been kidnapped, to continue legislating and working for the sake of caring for women, men, youth, fishermen, peasants and, above all, our militia and security forces”, he concluded during the mobilization in Caracas.
