0-2: Ayacucho beats Wilstermann at home

The Ayacucho Peru added its first three points in the Copa Sudamericana by beating the Wilsterman bolivian by 0-2 on the second date of group D.

Francis Duclos opened the scoring for the team led by the Uruguayan Alejandro Apud in the 9th minute and the Uruguayan Christian Techera he scored the second in the 78th minute of the game, played at the Félix Capriles stadium in Cochabamba, at an altitude of 2,558 meters.

The result temporarily placed the ‘Foxes’ in the first position of group D together with the Brazilian Sao Paulo, who this Thursday will face the Chilean Everton.

While the Wilstermann, commanded by the Chilean Miguel Ponce, was last by goal difference.

The ‘aviadores’ were surprised in the 9th minute with the good connection of headers between the Mexican Othoniel Arce and Duclos, who holed the ball in the goal guarded by the Colombian José Escobar.

Three minutes later the Argentine Javier Sanguinetti was able to equalize for the locals, but his shot ended up crashing against the crossbar.

Duclos missed the opportunity to add to the score in the 20th minute in a move somewhat similar to the first Peruvian goal.

The squad led by Ponce insistently sought a draw, but lacked precision and also ran into a solid Andy Vidal in the ‘Foxes’ goal.

At the end of the first half, a counterattack by the visitors almost ended in a goal, but the ‘aviador’ defender Edemir Rodríguez managed to clear the ball in time.

The second half was relatively even, because in their attempts to score, Wilstermann gave up spaces that gave rise to counterattacks by Apud’s men.

In the 75th minute, another chance for the ‘flyers’ to equalize came to nothing, as none of the players who were in the area were able to take advantage of the good center of the Brazilian Serginho.

The visitors achieved their second conquest in the 78th minute, with an assist from Robert Ardiles for Techera, who easily misled Escobar and Rodríguez to score.

On the third date, Ayacucho will visit Everton and Wilstermann will host Sao Paulo.
