USAID leads financial inclusion project in five regions

The United States Cooperation Agency (USAID) presented the Usaid/Colombia Finance for Equity Activity project, which includes financial inclusion and innovationin which they will work together with entities such as the Financial Superintendence, Banca de las Oportunidades, Finagro, among others.

The project seeks to promote development in issues such as financial education, savings and formal credit, access to guarantees and insurance, transfers and payments for the rural population of five strategic economic corridors for the country due to their characteristics: Bajo Cauca, South of Córdoba and Northeast of Antioquia; Catatumbo; Narino/Cauca; Meta/Guaviare and Caquetá/Putumayo.

It seeks to provide access to financial services for the first time to 200,000 people.
“CWith Finance for Equity, progress will not only be made in the financial inclusion of the rural population, mainly women in the defined areas, but also in a quality user/entity relationship that is sustainable over time”, said the Financial Superintendent of Colombia, Jorge Castaño Gutiérrez during the launch of the program.
