Uruguay fifth and Venezuela last: this is the inflation ranking in South America

Inflation in Argentina closed 2022 at 94.8%

Already entered the month of February in the countries of South America the first data of 2023 inflation. The map of numbers shows very different realities throughout the continent.

The official numbers show that the lowest year-on-year inflation record corresponds to Ecuador (3.12%) and Bolivia (3.14%) is in second place.

The third position is occupied by Brazil with inflation of 5.7% in the year ending in January, after exceeding the double-digit threshold last year after the start of the war in Ukraine. In fourth place comes Paraguay with accumulated inflation of 7.8%.

Uruguay appears in fifth position with inflation of 8.05% in the interannual record. Today the prospects are for a slowdown in the coming months to values ​​between 6.7% and 7.7% over the end of the year, according to different forecasts.

In the middle of the table comes Peru with 8.66% in sixth position. And in seventh and eighth position come Chile (12.3%) and Colombia with (13.25%).

At the bottom of the table is Argentina with a record of 98.8% and with a high probability of exceeding 100% in the February measurement. Only the data for January (6%) doubles the price rise that occurred in Bolivia and Ecuador throughout an entire year.

The worst in the class is still Venezuela which had inflation of 39.4% in January and reached 440% in the 12 months ending in January, according to independent measurements.
