Upon returning to the Presidency, Martin Torrijos promises a joint cabinet

The presidential candidate of the Popular Party (PP), Martín Torrijos Espino, affirmed that, if he wins the elections on May 5 of next year, he will designate a joint government cabinet to “work with the greatest number of women, who are half of the Panamanian population.

“We have to rebuild the country and you [mujeres] they are essential to restore hope to Panamanians; I am sure that we will put an end to corruption and he plays alive,” said the former president.
Torrijos Espino’s statements were made during a face-to-face conversation with hundreds of women who support her candidacy and who advocate being considered to play a leading role in the development of the country; since “we have the capacity, courage and leadership to defend the rights of women and of Panama”.

The women made a call to combat domestic violence, mistreatment, and sexual and psychological abuse, while advocating for having “a decent health system, a guarantee of retirement, health, and education; we need our young graduates to have a job.”
The former president recognized the role of women in politics and the professional, as well as their great contributions to the nation. “I need your support, to rebuild an unequal country; we will have many opportunities to improve the quality of life of Panamanians”, he pointed out.

For her part, the former first lady, Vivian Fernández de Torrijos, affirmed that women are characterized by being united and today “the hope that this project becomes a reality unites us [alianza fuerte y sólida] Here’s to better days for everyone.”

Regarding the health issue, the former President of the Republic reiterated that the situation of overcrowding experienced by patients who must go to the National Oncology Institute (ION), which lacks adequate infrastructure and resources, is inadmissible, for which “I promise to build a new hospital in the interior of the country”, to alleviate the heavy burden of those cancer patients.

The presidential candidate has promised to put polyclinics and health centers to work with extended hours, because “it cannot be that people get sick and have nowhere to go at night; We are going to fix the health system so that it is much more humane.”

To do this, Torrijos Espino affirms on his social networks, “I will ensure viable and financed projects, avoiding empty promises and delays due to disputes between construction companies.”

“It is time to build a new institutional framework for a Panama with resources and an equitable health system,” stressed the PP presidential candidate.
