Different union groups call on university professors and employees to meet at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education starting at 10:00 am, on the corner of El Chorro, in downtown Caracas, with the purpose of pressuring Minister Tibisay Lucena. to meet contractual commitments. They repudiate the agreement signed on Tuesday by the official Federation of University Workers of Venezuela that accepted installment payments until 2023 of the bonds owed
As a continuation of the protests that are taking place in different capitals of Venezuela to demand full payment of all salary allocations that have been harmed by the Onapre instructions and by decisions of the Ministry of Higher Education, the unions of the autonomous universities are calling for a demonstration at the headquarters of the office headed by Tibisay Lucena.
The appointment is this Thursday, August 4 from 10:00 am. at the headquarters located on the corner of El Chorro in downtown Caracas.
The president of the Association of Professors of the Central University of Venezuela, Víctor Márquez echoed a tweet from the president of the Association of Professors of the University of Zulia, Andrés Artro Munelo, who repudiated on Twitter this Wednesday afternoon that the The Federation of University Workers of Venezuela, the FTUV, had endorsed on Tuesday a payment equivalent to “10 Bonus days in August, 10 in September, 20 in October and 65 in 2023.”
“The greatest act of betrayal and the greatest labor violation against university workers has just been consummated with the announcement of the FTUV”, Munelo wrote.
Various union leaders and renowned academics expressed on social networks their rejection of an agreement between the Government and the Federation of University Workers of Venezuela, prone to officialism, in which the FTUV accepted a 30-day vacation bonus payment, but payable in advance. divided into three months. The remaining amount of 65 days would be paid in 2023.
The agreement was signed by representatives of the FUTV, and the ministers Tibisay Lucena and Francisco Torrealba.
The former rector of the UCV, Luis Fuenmayor Toro, wrote on Twitter: “And could it be that the Chavecisas professors receive an additional one under the table that makes them almost applaud this unusual decision? NEVER. Did they read? Never has a payment of this type been paid in such an irregular and cynical way.

The Confederation of Workers, in a long statement, also expresses the various problems and violations of laws and agreements that Venezuelan workers are facing and joins the call “to the streets” on August 4.
“It is no longer just about conventions number 87 (freedom of association), 44 (consultation and tripartite dialogue) and 26 (minimum wage fixing), which were the basis for the ILO to apply the maximum sanction to this government administration. Now the total disrespect for collective bargaining and the principle of “progressiveness and intangibility” of the conquered demands is added. This disrespect is expressed in the application of Memorandum 2792 of the Ministry of Labor and its subsequent salary tables from Onapre. These decrees flagrantly violate article 89 of the Constitution and ILO agreement number 98, which speak to us of the right to unionize and collective bargaining”, expresses the CTV.
“The action of the workers must not rule out any scenario in which we can continue to demand what belongs to us by right. We call on all workers to activate and support the calls to express our discontent and our rejection of these anti-worker and anti-labor policies. On Thursday, August 4, see you on the street! For a better world for workers!”
TOMORROW CLASSES ARE IN THE STREET.

The Advanced Progressive party also joins in solidarity with the educational unions and the other public sector employees who are affected by the lack of knowledge of their rights with the Onapre instructions.
Reinaldo Sifuentes, on behalf of the AP Executive Committee, said that the organization “accompanies and supports all the just demands of Venezuelan society, always prioritizing dialogue, negotiation, agreement, and peaceful protest actions.”
