University of Panama creates master’s degree in Government Control and Public Management

The master’s project in Government Control and Public Management was unanimously approved in the First Ordinary Meeting of the Regional University Center of San Miguelito, after the formal delivery by the National Directorate of General Audit of the Comptroller General of the Republic to the Rector of the University of Panama, Eduardo Flores.

The new academic offer is part of the Comptroller’s Office’s human resource professional improvement program aimed at promoting a culture of correctness in public management, as Comptroller Gerardo Solís has been supporting during his administration.

“Today a milestone is reached and a quality preparation materializes, at a higher level, for the officials of the Comptroller’s Office,” explained the National Director of General Auditing, Jorge Luis Quijada V., at the time of delivering the design of the master’s degree before the Rector of the University of Panama, Eduardo Flores. Director Quijada was accompanied by his work team headed by the National Deputy Director of Accountability, Marino J. Palacios C.

The proposed master’s degree will be of a professional type with an emphasis on Government Control and Auditing; also, in Financial and Budget Management. The subjects will be associated with five lines of intervention: Modernization of Public Management, Interpretation of Financial and Management Accounting Information, Public Policies, Transparency, Accountability and Citizen Participation, Public Management and Fiscal Accounting.

This project is part of the Framework Agreement for Educational and Technical Cooperation signed on May 20, 2021, between the University of Panama and the Comptroller General of the Republic.
