R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss United States, was chosen as the new Miss Universe, the night of Saturday, January 14.
The competition that for three hours faced 84 candidates had Amanda Dudamel, from Venezuelaand Andreína Martínez, from Dominican Republicas second.

Gabriel, 28, was consulted in the first round of questions about the changes I would make to Miss Universe and she replied that it would be at age, because she was on the edge and feels that “age does not define us and the time is now.”
The beauty queen, the first Filipino-American woman In winning Miss United States, she takes the ninth crown to her country, the one that has won the most titles in the history of Miss Universe.
The new Miss Universe is model, fashion designer and sewing instructor at Magpies & Peacocks, a Houston-based nonprofit design house dedicated to using “fashion as a force for good” through sustainability and community impact, and the Makr program, that teaches women who have survived human trafficking and domestic violence. It is also CEO of her own sustainable clothing line, R’Bonney Nola.
