The general secretary of the Workers’ Union of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Jorge Morales, spoke this Friday, on Radio Panama, about possible protest actions due to the breach of agreements made some years ago with health authorities.

He explained that for five periods of government, they began the process of agreements on wages, working conditions and they have not been reached.

“Almost seven years have passed and the agreements that must be evaluated every three years have not been reviewed. The authorities offer us all kinds of excuses, they have dismissed more than 1,500 workers, there is abuse of authority of administrative officials,” he remarked.

Morales commented that for now, they have the order that if the Minsa does not sign a formal agreement with the union, they will go on a nationwide sit-down general strike.

A meeting with the 26 national directors is scheduled for 9:00 am this Friday and at 10:30 am there will be a consensus.
