The Union of Guilds of Peru expressed its total rejection of the announcement of the closure of mining operations, made by the president of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vasquez.
Through a statement, he indicated that the fundamental role of the PCM is the solution of social conflicts within the framework of institutions and the rule of law.
“The decisions of the President of the Council of Ministers cannot be placed before the competent authorities or the governmental entities that directly regulate the sector; just as it cannot assume functions that do not correspond to it by law, without respecting the rule of law “, he pointed.
After rating of “illegal” the measure announced by Vásquez Chuquilín, said that he is concerned that it is the beginning of a “Permanent way that intends to attack the mining sector and other productive sectors”, that “They have generated development, employment and investment for the country”.

For this reason, it invoked the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) to respect the supervision and regulation mechanisms of the sector. Also asked “coherence” between what the president proposes Pedro Castillo and what their ministers do, in order to avoid “uncertainty” in the country.
“These actions only generate greater instability and mistrust in the business sector in general, and go in the opposite direction to the discourse given by President Pedro Castillo and his ministers on various occasions, in which they encourage businessmen to continue investing and betting on Peru”, he stressed.
Finally, the Union of Guilds of Peru highlighted that mining activity is a “Key sector” for the country, since it has generated development in the different regions where it operates, which is why it is necessary to promote greater investment in this sector in Peru.
“Likewise, it is important to point out that this measure will affect more than 54 thousand jobs, most of them in the Ayacucho region. We cannot go against employment or the families that support themselves “, he sentenced.
