Unigold requests a gold exploitation license in Dajabón

The Unigold mining company submitted an application to Ministry of Energy and Mines of an operating license fors gold deposits of the Neíta concession, located in the municipality of Restauración, Dajabón province.

The application covers 9,990 hectares of the 21,031 contained in the concession, in deposits known as Candelones, according to a statement from the company yesterday, which presented the results of the most recent studies, metallurgical tests that predict a high level of recovery.

It also indicates that they have started detailed studies of the site and geotechnical works, as well as the design of the leaching facility; also the field work to support thea Environmental and Social Impact Assessment has begun.

Joseph Hamiltonmanager of Unigold, said that this request is a significant milestone for the company, after highlighting that the strategy is to deliver a project with low environmental impact.

He announced that environmental, geotechnical and community programs have begun and that they expect to deliver a final feasibility study and an environmental impact assessment in the third quarter of this year.

He said that the request was submitted on February 25 and that if the exploitation license was obtained, it would give Unigold the exclusive right to extract metallic minerals from the concession area. for a period of 75 years.

If the request is approved, it goes to the Ministry of the Environment to prepare the terms of reference for the Environmental Impact Study, which takes more than a year, and if feasible, requires an authorization from the Presidency of the Republic.

More than $1,000 million incentives for renewable energy approved

The National Energy Commission (CNE) managed in 2021, 1,458 requests for tax incentives. This represented RD$1,095 million in exemptions in support of renewable energy generation projects in areas of the Dominican Republic.

These exemptions were granted to companies and individuals who invested in the acquisition and installation of renewable systems. Both for purposes of generation and sale of Energy.

In the case of incentives for the exemption of 100% of all taxes that originate at the time of import of the equipment. The total number of recommendation resolutions issued was 282, for an approximate total of RD$163,123,643.41.
