This Thursday the 4th, the CH Municipality of Montevideo received, from the National Road Safety Unit (Unasev), 20 certified protection helmets for motorcyclists and 600 books on safe mobility, which will be distributed in educational centers in the area. In the first half of the year, more than 260 of these security items and 8,521 copies were delivered to various points in Uruguay.
The event, which was held at the headquarters of the CH Municipality, was attended by the mayor Matilde Antía and the members of the Unasev board of directors, Alejandro Draper, Carlos Manzor, Mauricio Viera and Jorge Alfaro.
In dialogue with the Presidential Communication, Draper explained that, thanks to the agreement that the unit maintains with the International Automobile Federation (FIA), through the Automobile Club of Uruguay (ACU), more than 260 certified helmets were supplied in different departments of the country. .
On this occasion, the CH Municipality of Montevideo received 20, which will be delivered to motorcyclists, who must complete a form that allows knowing the destination of each security element.
The donation of 20 storybook kits (600 in total) on safe mobility was made through an agreement signed between Unasev and Fundación Mapfre. Since December 2021, 8,521 volumes have been distributed in public and private educational centers in the national territory.
“The goal is for schoolchildren to incorporate concepts of safe mobility, through an educational and playful strategy”Draper said.
For her part, Matilde Antía especially thanked the donation, which will be sent to educational centers in the area. “It is a duty of the State to teach, educate, be present and combat this silent pandemic that is traffic accidents,” she pointed out.
