According to the UN, until March 28 there were a total of 7,239,953 Venezuelan migrants and refugees. Of these, the vast majority, 6,095,464, are based in Latin American and Caribbean countries. According to the platform, Colombia remains the country with the largest number of Venezuelans, with 2.4 million, followed by Peru, with more than 1.5 million Venezuelans.

Then the United States (545,000), Ecuador (502,000), Chile (444,000), Spain (438,000) and Brazil (426,000) are among the countries with the largest number of Venezuelans. The previous ones are followed Argentina (220 thousand), Panama (147 thousand), Dominican Republic (115 thousand) and Mexico (87 thousand).
The platform estimate was released two weeks after the completion of the International Conference of Solidarity with Venezuelan Refugees and Migrants and their Host Countries and Communitiesan initiative convened by the United Nations Refugee Agency (Acnur), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the European Union and the Canadian government.
On March 16, on the second day of the conference, the Interagency Coordination Platform for Refugees and Migrants from Venezuela stated that “three years after the first conference in solidarity with refugees and migrants, the situation has become complicated.” He noted that the impact of the pandemic exacerbated the crisis.
For the instances, although regularization and documentation initiatives have been implemented in the region, the international community must maintain the protection of refugees and migrants from Venezuela and invest in the communities that host them.
