The UN Humanitarian Response Plan prepared for Venezuelawith the support of 132 organizations, served 4.5 million citizens in 332 municipalities in 2021 of the Caribbean country, informed this Thursday the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
However, OCHA clarified that “This does not mean that their needs have been met”, although the plan was more extensive and comprehensive than in previous years, in various areas.
In a report published on the page of the Humanitarian Responsethe UN agency showed that, over the past year, the Humanitarian Response Plan had greater scope, mainly in the health, water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.
In 2021, 4.2 million vaccinations were applied (against polio, tetanus, diphtheria, tuberculosis, yellow fever, hepatitis B, measles and rubella, but not against covid-19) and 1.4 million Venezuelans were immunized.
They also attended the shelter, energy and goods, nutrition, food security and livelihoods and education sectors.
32% of humanitarian activities were completedwhile 68% of them are still in the process of being executed.
38% of the actions were carried out in health establishments (hospitals, health centers, comprehensive diagnostic centers, outpatient clinics, and administrative health centers), 21% in communities, 12% in schools and other educational centers6% in community centers and the remaining 24% in “other” places.
Participated in the plan 89 Venezuelan NGOs25 international organizations, 9 belonging to the UN, 7 private organizations and academy and 2 of the Red Cross.
In 2021, 374.4 million dollars were received for the Humanitarian Response of Venezuela from 18 international donorswhich represents a 121% increase from 2019.
The 2021 Humanitarian Response Plan obtained 37% of the required $708.1 million.
