The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, arrived in kyiv on Wednesday as part of the investigations carried out by his office for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine.
The official visited the city of Bucha, where authorities found hundreds of civilians killed after the withdrawal of Russian troops.
“Ukraine is a crime scene. We are here because we have good reason to believe that crimes within the Court’s jurisdiction are being committed. We have to go through the fog of war to get to the truth. That requires an independent and impartial investigation,” Khan told reporters during the visit to this city.

Earlier, the Hague Tribunal representative met with Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova, with whom he agreed to deepen engagement and further strengthen alliances as a crucial element in achieving accountability for crimes committed in Ukraine.

The foreign ministers of the European Union (EU) agreed on Monday 11 to provide financial assistance and a team of experts to the Prosecutors of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and of Ukraine to help them document possible war crimes committed by Russian troops in That country.
“We will support both prosecutors financially and with our team on the ground,” announced the high representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, Josep Borrell, at a press conference after the Council, who also made it clear that they do not exclude sanctioning gas and oil Russians, although no agreement was reached on this today.
