However, from the UDI they stated that they will not return to the instance, pointing out that they have not reverted the pardons to Luis Castillo -who has an extensive police record- and the ex-frontist Jorge Mateluna.
“We are available to talk again, but the government, having recognized its mistake, has done absolutely nothing to rectify it,” said the deputy in a video Henry Loyal (UDI), who was part of the security table.

“We have asked him to annul the decrees that granted pardon to Mr. Castillo, a seasoned criminal, with more than six convictions, and the same with Mateluna. However, he insists on maintaining that error,” he added.

Let us remember that President Gabriel Boric pardoned 13 people on Friday, January 30: 12 convictions in the context of the social outbreak and the ex-frontist Jorge Mateluna. That same day, Chile Vamos -with the exception of Senator Manuel Jose Ossandon (RN) – announced his withdrawal from the security desk.
Subsequently, a report from T13 revealed that Luis Castillo -one of the 13 pardoned- had other convictions in his record. In 2005 he was convicted twice for theft, in 2006 for less serious injuries and robbery with violence and in 2017 for surprise robbery.
The pardon of Castillo generated criticism from the opposition and triggered the resignation of the Minister of Justice, Marcela Riosand President Boric’s chief of staff, Matías Meza-Lopehandía.
