Jesús Mendoza, president of the FCU-UCV, affirmed that the claim of teachers and workers directly affects them in the classes. He added that they will take the opportunity to demand an increase in university scholarships, the activation of transportation and the dining room
The president of the Federation of University Centers of the Central University of Venezuela (FCU-UCV), jesus mendozaaffirmed on Tuesday, January 17, that the Student Movement of that house of studies will accompany the protests of teachers and workers for better salary demands.
Mendoza stressed that they are now more forced than ever to give support to the labor demonstrations of the UCV staff because what they suffer directly affects the entire university community, both in classes and in other areas.
«When a teacher does not get to teach his class because he does not have to eat in the fridge, because they earn 20 or 15 dollars; when the administrative staff does not arrive at their job because they do not have enough money to pay the ticket; That directly affects us students,” Mendoza explained according to a press release.

In his opinion, what is the claim of teachers and what is made by public sector workers should be seen as one and, in this sense, he stressed that young people also have the right to join these protests due to the current conditions for study as student scholarships of only four dollars; the paralysis of the dining room and the lack of transportation.
«Full-time teachers do not exist today, they are an endangered species. Here everyone has to kill tigers to survive, “he said.
Similarly, he highlighted the importance of the ministries of Education and University Education, chaired by Yelitze Santaella and Tibisay Lucena respectively, to set up work groups to discuss salary and labor issues with unions; something that in his opinion should be done as soon as possible in order to review the salary tables and that the unions chosen by the bases participate and not those that were imposed.
