Two Intevec employees captured with metallic mercury

Two employees of the Venezuelan Institute of Technology for Petroleum (Intevep) were captured because they allegedly stole a kilo and a half of metallic mercury, a chemical element used in scientific research.

A report from Detachment 441 of the Bolivarian National Guard to which we had access reveals that the arrests were made at the Intevep headquarters located in Los Teques (Miranda).

The detainees are identified as José Manuel Rondón Mujica and Ángel Guillermo Quevedo Viña from whom they seized 1,550 kilos of metallic mercury, which they planned to transport in a vehicle, according to the report.

The detainees will be prosecuted for theft of strategic material.
