Two children and one adult were injured after two trees fell on Tuesday afternoon in front of Parque de la Fraternidad in Havana. The accident occurred at the corner of Reina and Amistad, an area with several bus stops and collection points for collective taxis or almendrones.
A severe local storm was recorded in the capital past noon with strong winds and electrical discharges. The sky still remains covered in a layer of black smoke from the fire at the Supertanker Base in Matanzas.
Several videos shared on social networks record the first tree fallen on the street while a crowd tries to help an injured person. A few seconds later you can see how the second tree wobbles before falling in front of the Computing Palace and grazing a motorized vehicle that was supporting the area after the accident with its branches.
Other material shows several people carrying an injured person when the second tree falls and creates more chaos among passers-by and the uniformed men who had attended the scene.
The injured are treated at the Centro Habana Pediatric Hospital and the Calixto García hospital, official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonzo reported on his social networks, who stated that the injured suffered minor injuries and their lives are not in danger.
