The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, Francisco Bustillo, received in our country his counterpart from Turkey, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
From the portfolio, it is pointed out that the Turkish representative’s visit to Uruguay was in order to “hold meetings with authorities of the country.” In addition, the presence of Çavuşoğlu is part of the process of “strengthening” relations between Uruguay and Turkey. This is implemented through the signing of “bilateral agreements, reciprocal visits by high authorities of both countries.”
In addition, the “resident embassies” and the negotiation of “instruments that will increase and facilitate trade and investment” were highlighted. It is indicated that the Foreign Ministers will attend the “official inauguration of the Türkiye Embassy in Uruguay, with Minister Bustillo expressing the recognition of the Uruguayan government for this highly valued diplomatic presence.”
While Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu “welcomed the decision of the Government of Uruguay to establish an embassy in Ankara’. He assured that the Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide “full support to the designated Uruguayan ambassador.”
An “important signal” after the Bustillo-Çavuşoğlu meeting
It was indicated that the decision to raise the level of diplomatic representation constitutes “an important signal for the economic, social and cultural sectors of both countries, clearly reflecting the will of both governments to further enrich bilateral exchanges. The Embassies will provide critical support to achieve these goals.”
The leaders signed the terms of reference to “start the negotiation process leading to a Free Trade Agreement between Uruguay and Türkiye. These objectives will generate higher levels of well-being and prosperity for both societies”, is indicated from the portfolio.
