Donald Trump, former president of the United States, withdrew a lawsuit filed in the courts of West Palm Beach (Florida) against the attorney general of New York, Letitia James. The lawsuit was aimed at stopping the investigations that he opened into his business organization and that have led to two convictions.

As reported by EFE, in the judicial registry of the case opened last December, a note was published this Friday, January 20, announcing that the plaintiff ended his legal action against James without giving further explanations.
Trump (2017-2021) raised this legal action after the New York Prosecutor’s Office sued him, his three eldest children and his company, the company, last September. Trump Organization, for allegedly fraudulently obtaining lower loans, insurance benefits and taxes than they should have.
A week ago, a New York Supreme Court judge ordered the Trump Organization to pay a fine of 1.61 million dollars -the maximum possible- for operating a tax evasion scheme for years, in one of the cases derived from the investigations of the Prosecutor’s Office that James directs.
In that case against Donald Trump, neither the former president nor his children are included.
Allen Weisselber, for many years the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, was also sentenced this January.
Weisselberg, who received a light sentence of five months in prison as a result of his pact with the Prosecutor’s Office, had pleaded guilty in August to fifteen counts of tax fraud.
The now withdrawn lawsuit sought to limit or stop the investigation, as well as veto James’ participation in any civil or criminal action against the former president or his company.
On January 15, the former president accused James in a statement of trying to turn his position into “a political weapon” against him.
“Instead of continuing to waste your time and taxpayer resources on a long and continuous witch hunt against the Republican Party and myself, you should turn your attention to helping resurrect the once great state of New York.” Trump wrote.
