Trial for fire in the San Pablo Metro: accused of starting fire at Lo Prado station sentenced to 12 years in prison

This Saturday, the First Criminal Oral Trial Court (TOP) of Santiago began the hearing for the communication of the sentence against the defendant for the fire at the San Pablo Metro station; in October 2019.

The capital court sentenced Daniel Elías Bustos Trabol to 12 years in prison, as the author of the consummated crime of arson of the underground train station located in the commune of Lo Prado; perpetrated during the demonstrations of the social outbreak.

Prosecutors José Morales and Francisco Bravo confirmed that Bustos Trabol launched the fire-carrying object that caused structural fire.

The Court’s conviction complied with the request of the Central North Prosecutor’s Office, which requested 12 years in prison for Daniel Bustos, who was accused of throwing “an object that carried fire, containing a flammable substance and previously lit by the accused, at the station San Pablo Metro Line 1″. “Specifically to an enclosure located on the eastern side of the station.”

The accusation also states that “this fire-bearing object lit up the place and objects indicated, after which it spread to the rest of the station, generating a structural fire, as a consequence of which the station was seriously damaged, rendering it unusable. for its use and with damages of approximately 20 billion pesos, including the fire and total loss of a passenger train that was hit by fire in the station platform sector.”

As stated by the prosecutor José Morales prior to the ruling, the crime perpetrated by Bustos Trabol affected more than 110,000 people who “were harmed in the use of that underground train stop.”
