Strengthen the region
Tatiana Clouthier pointed out that Mexico and the North American region have to take advantage of the current moment to attract the largest number of companies and industries that seek to relocate.
“Do we want to strengthen ourselves competitively as a region, or are we going to give way to other countries and other regions to take the place we are leaving because we did not do what we had to do?” asked Tatiana Clouthier.
He explained that Mexico is working on attracting companies that want to relocate on issues such as infrastructure and connectivity -in this sense, they are working on a train from Sinaloa to New Mexico -originally it was to Texas, but another option will be sought-, as well as in human capital, not only in the area of young labor, but also training through agreements such as the one signed between the state Economic Development Secretariats, Conalep, and scholarships for high-level professionals.
Via Invest in Mexico and DataMéxico The Mexican government offers tools for companies that want to enter the country to make the best decision to do so.
Work is also being done to link large companies with local suppliers. He highlighted that, thanks to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), today T-MEC, he had that integrating vision, thanks to which the automotive industry was consolidated, among others, in an integral way.
“That is why the high-level economic dialogue (DEAN) has been working on the construction of strategic and commercial priorities to promote economic development, job creation, global competitiveness, one of the points on which we must put the greatest emphasis. ”, Secretary Clouthier said.
In terms of logistics, Mexico is not satisfied with being a neighbor of the United States, which gives it a competitive advantage in terms of costs and time to reach the neighboring country’s market.
Clouthier stressed that with the Transisthmian corridor it will be possible to reach the east coast of the US and Europe faster, and not depend only on the ports that are in the Pacific Ocean.
