Presidential candidate Martín Torrijos Espino met this weekend with agricultural producers, pig farmers, poultry farmers and ranchers from this region, whom he invited to work together to overcome obstacles and form a public-private strategy to boost the sector.
During this face-to-face dialogue, the producers expressed the difficulties they face due to the high costs of inputs such as fertilizers, as well as access to markets. “The main thing is food… there is no peace if there is no food,” they warned.
“My commitment is to promote a public-private alliance with producers to boost their production and promote agribusiness, as well as facilitate their access to international markets. I will tirelessly dedicate myself to satisfying their demands for the benefit of all Panamanians,” said the former President of the Republic.
The Popular Party candidate pointed out that if he wins the elections on May 5, 2024, he will modernize the institutions linked to the agricultural sector; Financing and technology will be made available to producers, in addition to ensuring timely payment of government commitments.
During the tour of La Chorrera, the former president, in the company of his wife Vivian Fernández de Torrijos, also met businessmen, carriers and representatives of civic clubs.
