Olimpia and Atlético Goianiense will face each other again in Brazil, where Franjeado will seek to ratify the advantage achieved in Asunción and qualify for the first time in the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana.

The Franjeado team, which undertook a trip last Tuesday to the city of Goiânia, settled on Brazilian soil thinking about the revenge game against a battered Atlético Goianiense, with a discreet campaign in the Brazilian League, who wants to overcome the King’s advantage at home of Cups, which has one foot in the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana soccer.

The “Dragons” from the city of Goiania lost in the first leg, 2-0, played in Asunción and now they will bet all their fuel against the Deans of Paraguayan soccer playing on their land.

Right at home, Goianiense lost last Sunday, by 1-2, in a match of the fifteenth day of the Brazilian Championship Series A, a defeat that left the team led by the historic side Jorginho in box 16, on the verge of the relegation zone.

Goianiense has 17 points, the same as its neighbor and backyard rival Goiás, the first of the four clubs that are in the relegation zone, and twelve points from the leader Palmeiras. The discount goal against Sao Paulo was scored by Marlon Freitas.

For the match against Olimpia, Goianiense will leave the Antonio Accioly stadium and will be local at the imposing Serra Dourada, home of the rival Goiás, but used by the “Dragons” in the South American. The same players who were in the defeat against Sao Paulo, commanded in the attack by the Argentine Diego Churín, will seek to vindicate themselves before their public against Franjeado.

Those led by coach Julio César Cáceres, arrive in conditions that are very different from those of their Brazilian rival. On Sunday, despite the fact that the Opening Tournament was sentenced early with the title for Libertad, the Dean defeated Guaraní 0-2 in the Asunceño derby on the last day. Néstor Camacho and Wálter González decreed the victory for Olimpia, who finished in third position with 43 points, fourteen behind the champion.

For today’s game, the express also has Derlis González and the Uruguayan Alejandro Silva, authors of the goals in the first leg, in addition to the Uruguayan goalkeeper Gastón Olveira, the Colombian defender Sergio Otálvaro and the Argentine Víctor Salazar. In principle, the only change that the Emperor’s eleven would suffer is the entry of Richard Ortiz by Marcos Gómez, compared to the match played in Defensores del Chaco.

It should be remembered that there are some well-known players in Brazilian soccer at Olimpia, such as striker Derlis González, who played for Santos, and Guillermo Paiva, at Náutico de Recife; in addition to the youth Hugo Quintana and Gustavo Peralta, who were part of the lower divisions of the Paulista Palmeiras.

«We leave with an advantage, but we have to play as if we didn’t have it. You don’t have to give anything to the rival because he can make the most of it. We leave with that mentality of playing a great game and, if possible, scoring more goals,” said strategist Cáceres at the Silvio Pettirossi international airport.

To advance to the quarterfinals, Olimpia is enough even with a one-goal loss, while Goianiense needs to win by three goals or more. The two teams seek access for the first time in their history to this instance of the international tournament, in which the winner will collide with Nacional de Uruguay, who eliminated Unión de Argentina.
