Three fishermen reported missing in Chuspa

Three fishermen from the town of Chuspa, Caruao parish in the state of La Guaira, have lost around four days at sea, as reported by the town’s Council of Fishermen, Fishermen and Fish Farmers (Conppa) to security and protection authorities.

The fishermen who set sail on the El Rumbero boat, in the early hours of Saturday, May 6, were identified as Juan Romero, Yonathan Parra and Gil Parra, who were fishing with a pot.

The trap is a passive fishing net, consisting of a narrowing cylinder shape, so that when the prey enters the net, its route is directed, falling into a reservoir from which it is impossible to get out.

According to their relatives, their log indicated their return to Chuspa was on Tuesday the 9th in the morning, however they did not return to the bay.

“The fishermen agreed and we went out to explore the fishing areas and where they are traditionally, but we did not find them. Fishermen from Carenero have joined the search in support,” explained José Camacho, a resident of Chuspa.

Likewise, it was possible to know that Juan Romero is a member of the Conppa and is an appreciated leader in the community.

The authorities referred the case to the Coast Guard Command, which joined in the search for the fishermen.
