Thomas Müller renews with Bayern Munich until 2024

Thomas Müller, the 32-year-old Bayern Munich icon, has extended his contract until June 2024, the Bavarian club, which has just won its 10th consecutive German championship, announced on Tuesday.

The renewals of two other historical pillars, captain Manuel Neuer and striker Robert Lewandowski, whose contracts also end in June 2023 (like Serge Gnabry’s), have not yet been announced.

The German press speculates that Lewandowski might leave at the end of this season, which the Bavarian club has flatly denied until now.

Müller, born in the Bavarian region, arrived at Bayern at the age of 10 and has been part of the first team since 2008. He has won two Champions Leagues (2013, 2020), and is the only one to hold the record for champion titles from Germany, with 11 in his record.

“Thomas Müller is an icon who wears the club crest in his heart,” said Bayern boss Oliver Kahn: “He is someone who assumes his role as a leader, an important character in the dressing room because of his personality.”
