According to figures from Legal Medicine of Colombia between January and May 2022 have murdered 367 Venezuelans in Colombian territory.
The figure is alarming, since it means that two migrants are murdered daily in Colombian territory, indicates a report from the media News Channel1.
The violent trend is maintained compared to last year when 834 Venezuelan migrants were killed.
Of these homicides, 260 were committed with a firearm, 77 with a knife, and 30 in the middle of fights.
Bogotá, Antioquia, Norte de Santander and Valle del Cauca are the regions with the most cases.
82% of murders of Venezuelans abroad occur in Colombia
The president of the Special Commission to Investigate Crimes against Venezuelan Migrants of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Julio Chávez, stated last July in an interview with Last News that in the neighboring country they assassinate more Venezuelan migrants than social leaders, environmentalists and signatories of peace agreements.
He explained that between 2016 and 2021 they have murdered in Colombia: 611 environmentalists, 276 signers of the peace agreements, 753 social leaders and 1,279 Venezuelan migrants.
He specified that 82% of the murders of Venezuelans abroad occur in Colombia and that most of these deaths occur in municipalities linked to drug cultivation.
