The tickets of pounds with the face of the monarch Carlos III will begin to arrive in mid-2024, as detailed by the Bank of England this Tuesday.
¨On December 20, 2022, we unveiled the design of our King Carlos III banknotes. The King’s portrait will appear on the four polymer banknotes (5, 10, 20 and 50 pounds)¨, the entity explained in a statement.
He also added that “the rest of the banknote design will remain the same. The image of the King will be on the obverse of the banknotes, as well as in the transparent security window. You can check the authenticity of these notes in the same way that you can check our notes of this value with Queen Elizabeth II.”

New banknotes will only be printed to replace worn-out ones and to meet any general increase in demand for banknotes.
The Bank of England said that it has chosen this way of approaching it to be in line with the guidelines of the Royal House, in order to minimize the environmental and financial impact of this change.
On what will happen to the notes with the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the Bank of England explains that, naturally, they can continue to be used when the new design arrives.
