Great Place to Work (GPTW) unveiled the list of the best companies to work for women in a face-to-face event after two years of virtual instances.
This Friday, when the clock struck nine in the morning, representatives of the companies that make up the ranking were found together with part of the team that carried out the investigation to start the award ceremony.
“We are immensely happy to have created this space, and proud of the reason that brings us together”, said the GPTW Country Manager for Uruguay, Fedra Feola, referring to the launch of the third edition of the award for the best places for women to work in Uruguay.
In addition, he invited the participants to take this instance to generate a space for reflection beyond the award. “We want to show the community that it is possible to go down the path of equity, that there are organizations that are already doing itFeola said.
This gave way to the regional director of the firm, Cecilia Riva, who presented the main qualities for which a company is excellent to work for women.
He began his presentation by presenting the following information: there are 100 million women who work formally in Latin America. A number that shows that the world changed, that lWomen no longer depend on men to be able to have an economic outlet and that forces companies to present new working conditions because —although there are already different conditions than those that existed in other times—, they are still not in tune with the number of women in the workplace.
“Women are looking for the same things as men at work,” Riva noted. In this sense, she explained that there are three issues in particular that stand out in the search for what women consider to be an excellent place to work: development, visibility and care.
First of all, the women they want to grow and learn new things to give more of themselves. It is also linked to the career within the company.
In second place, women want to be visible. According to Riva, this is a job that depends on the organization, but also on women: “We have to allow ourselves to be a little more visible, and they have to let us occupy that space,” she said.
In third place, the care of the company towards its employee.
Riva assured that all these points are changes that have to do with attitudinal benefits, and that it is difficult to change the attitude. Nevertheless, He highlighted that once companies start working on these three points they have an exponential change. Some of the benefits they receive are better corporate performance, stronger employer branding, increased innovation, and better attraction and retention of talent.
After the presentation by the regional director of GPTW and a panel in which influential women in the field of gender equality participated —such as the president of the Organization of Women Entrepreneurs of Uruguay, Anabela Aldaz, the executive director of Wasabi Digital, Agustina Zuasnabar, and the person in charge of Human Resources of Girls In Tech, Lucía Michetti—, The companies in the ranking of the best places to work for women in Uruguay 2022 were announced.
