This Sunday, November 21, at La Ascensión del Señor Parish in Las Mañanitas, they held the “Bicentennial Tamale” measuring 73.5 meters long, which is expected to be credited as the largest tamale in the world.

This tamale was prepared on the occasion of the celebration of the 200 years of independence of Panama from Spain in the typical fair of the parish.

“It is a large tamale to celebrate a great party. There is history with the Bicentennial tamale,” said Father Eusebio Muñoz, pastor of La Ascensión del Señor.

At first it was thought that the tamale was 12 meters long; however, after an internet search, the parish team decided that they could break the previous record held by Mexico with a 50.05 meter tamale, and they did.

The measure of the “Bicentennial Tamale” was endorsed by Columbus University and it is expected that the process will begin before the “Guiness World Records” so that it will finally become the largest tamale in the world.
