With a two-month delay, the second stage of work will begin to rescue the remains of the 63 miners who were buried in Pasta de Conchos, Coahuila, for 16 years.

Although it was originally scheduled to start in March, yesterday the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (STPS) announced that it will be this month when phase two begins, and assured that the rescue work will be carried out. finish on time.

In the context of the 42nd General Convention of the Mining Union, the agency pointed out that the work led by the Federal Electricity Commission is advancing, despite difficulties in supply chains, such as in the steel industry.

The rescue work began last February and includes three stages. The first consists of the construction of two openings or vertical shafts to access the points where, according to the logs, the remains of the workers who were trapped are found.

The second will involve the construction of approach ramps and connection tunnels, which would start in March and will last 20 months, according to information released by the agency. The third is to start the search for the remains of the miners.

The STPS indicated that next June it will meet again with the relatives of those who died in the Pasta de Conchos mine.

He added that the rescue is a fundamental part of the Reparation Plan for Pasta de Conchos, but it is not the only one, another had to do with compensation to widows, which has already been concluded with this stage, and housing support; In addition, it is about to start by Sedatu a very important monument to be placed at the entrance of the mine.
