Venezuela will try to break a new Guinness record in March, with the largest choir in the world. The information was released by Eduardo Méndez, executive director of the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, who explained that the corresponding preparations are already being made to achieve this.

«After the success that there was with the orchestra, well the people of the choirs have not stopped insisting. They also want to participate,” said the musician in an interview with Unión Radio, in the space On time.

This new goal is ten times more ambitious than the previous one because it is expected to gather 121,440 voices, which is the maximum reached so far and that only choristers from Caracas will participate in the act for logistical reasons.

For now, La Carlota park is being evaluated for the event due to the space it offers, according to the details offered by Méndez, who also highlighted that the national group currently has one million 12 thousand children, which is the enrollment they decided to maintain. since the arrival of the pandemic. However, by 2023 they hope to increase the number of young people that make it up and for this reason they have decided to attract the interest of this population with Guinness.

El Sistema is made up of just over half a million young people and all of them, or at least the vast majority, receive vocal training before being able to choose to play an instrument.

In November 2021, after presenting the Slavic March by the Russian Tchaikovsky in the Simón Bolívar Hall of the Center for Social Action for Music, The Orchestra System formally received the certificate of having managed to establish the largest symphony orchestra in the world, with 8,573 musicians who met all the requirements, according to the Guinness book of records.

With this, Venezuela added a new entry in the book that collects the world records achieved by man and nature. The previous marks Venezuelans include the largest casino salsa wheel, the highest cable car in the world (the one in Mérida), the highest waterfall (Angel Falls), the back-to-back in Miss Universe (from the Venezuelans Dayana Mendoza to Stefanía Fernández) and the ice cream parlor with the most flavors, also in the state of Mérida.
