Accessible beach enabled in Punta del Este

Eliana González, director of Inclusive Policies at the IDM said at the opening of the accessible beach from Punta del Este: “we started this great project that fills our souls and is pure life for people with disabilities and for the elderly,” he highlighted.

González explained that it is “a completely accessible and facilitating beach because the multidisciplinary team is the fundamental tool to facilitate people entering the water,” he said, adding: “we have made great progress in accessibility and infrastructure this year. We have accessible showers and new cars and we already have 16 accessible cars,” said the chief.

In addition, González announced that “this year we also have an accessible bus at the door. There are three frequencies in the morning and three in the afternoon” he concluded.

As reported by the IDM, the work team in 2023 is made up of 10 Physical Education teachers, 10 physical education students and 6 young people from the Inclusive Labor Insertion Program.

The accessible beach of Punta del Este will work every day of the week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. until February 20.

Although the accessible beaches are already working, this Wednesday, January 4, the formal opening of the Piriápolis beach will take place, and on Monday, January 9, the inauguration of the proposal will take place in Balneario Solís, thus enabling the 3 accessible beaches of the Maldonado Department.
