From 7:00 am this Friday, January 7, the anticovid vaccination began for children between 5 and 11 years of age with chronic diseases and immunosuppressed patients.
These pediatric doses are placed in the main national hospitals, provincial capitals, private hospitals and in the Omar recreational park for children with disabilities.
There are 28 points where this vaccination day began, which will resume on Tuesday, January 11, because Monday 10 is mandatory rest due to the patriotic feat of January 9, 1964.
The health authorities have explained that between the first and second week of January they hope to inoculate a total of 25,400 doses destined for this part of the pediatric population. In total, the population between 5 and 11 years of age is 522 thousand 198 people.
The vaccination strategy for this group of children begins with the vulnerable population (chronic, immunosuppressed, cancer, HIV, children with morbid obesity and disability). It also includes children with cardiovascular diseases, heart failure, sickle cell anemia, lupus, epilepsy, arthritis, transplanted children, with cancer of any classification, highlighted the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre a few days ago.
It should be noted that parents must carry the vaccination card and an identity document of the minor such as the juvenile card or the birth certificate.
In the capital city the hospitals enabled so far are the Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Specialties Hospital, and it is planned that private hospitals will be added next week.
At Parque Omar, according to the pediatrician, Alfredo Henríquez, 256 children with disabilities are expected to be immunized this Friday until 1:00 pm
