A draft resolution of the Ministries of Mines and Energy, Agriculture and Environment would allow for a determined period of time the sale of gasoline with a marked drop in the ethanol mixture.

The draft of the future standard, which is in the comments stage, “establishes the percentage of the mixture of ethanol with regular motor gasoline or with extra motor gasoline, and temporary measures are adopted in order to give continuity to the supply of fuels in the national territory”.
The resolution initiative that, if finalized, would come into effect from next April 1, establishes that the fuel alcohol content (ethanol in the mixture with current and extra fossil motor gasoline) that is distributed by retail distributors or consumed by large consumers nationwide, would be 2% until May 31, in June it would be 6%, in July of 8% and from August of 10%.
Likewise, for the departments of Arauca, Guainía, La Guajira, Vaupés and Vichadathere would be a mixture of 2% fuel alcohol for the months of April, May and June, in July it would be 6% and from August 10%.

And finally, for the departments of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina, as well as Norte de Santander and the urban area of the municipality of Río de Oro in the department of Cesar, the ethanol mixture in the gasoline running engine and extra motor gasoline in April, May and June would remain at 2%, between the months of July and December at 6%, and as of January 2023 at 10%.
Draws attention to the content of the text of this draft resolution, the transitory article that would allow the “agents of the liquid fuel distribution chain at the national level that do not have sufficient availability of fuel alcohol (ethanol to carry out the mixture)”, who may apply percentages “between 0% to 6% in the mixture with fossil motor gasoline”.
Among the reasons why the National Government is seriously studying the measure in the draft resolution, and that it would open a certain period of time to the sale of gasoline without ethanol, it is because of the fear that some of the distributors will run out of stock of the alcohol.
