The former PLRA senator and treasurer, Dionisio Amarilla, stated for Radio Ñanduti that they will ask the PLRA Conduct Court to expel the liberal departmental councilors from Central who had negotiated with the Colorados for the election of Gustavo Machuca as interim governor to replace Hugo Xavier Gonzalez. He also indicated that they will request that Minister Víctor Ríos be expelled, since he would have been the political operator.
The liberal departmental councilors who voted for Machuca were: Adrián Vaesken, Benita Jara, Roque Ávalos and Daniel Ferreira. They belong to the team of the president of the PLRA, Efraín Alegre.
Amarilla indicated that they will also ask the Court of Conduct to withdraw support for Alegre’s leadership as head of the Liberal Party and added that the people who are functional to him are also functional to the Government. He also added that the decision made by the councilors once again means the plain in the PLRA.
He also regretted what happened and commented that most of the party’s representatives and leaders were stunned. “No one understands why this situation occurred,” he said, but he did not rule out that it is because the government sector has offered something in return.
