Labor Day: Learn about the most required technical careers in Peru

After two years of pandemic, the in Peru it has been recovering. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), during the last year the employed population grew at all educational levels. Thus, among technical professionals, job placement increased by 14.7%, much more than university professionals (10.4%). For Fabián Espinel, head of Employability at the Certus Institute, this shows that technical careers will be key to the country’s development because they boost formal employment and the economy.

“Studying a short career offers many benefits because it allows you to study in a short time and, due to the great demand of companies for these profiles, the graduate can quickly enter the labor market with competitive salaries. A technician can earn 60% more and has a lower unemployment rate.”, says Espinel, representative of the Certus institute.

However, the specialist points out that there is still a demand that we must cover since in the country there is one technician for every four university students. For this reason, in order to celebrate Labor Day this May 1, Fabián Espinel details the technical occupations most required by companies in Peru:

  • Information technologies: Thanks to the rapid digital transformation, companies in all sectors increasingly require the incorporation of technical professionals for the implementation, improvement and management of their digital systems and processes. The salaries of Information Technology professionals can exceed S / 7,000, which also depends on the specialty.
  • Business administration: It is the professional in charge of managing the resources, processes and people of the different areas of the companies; they help organizations function efficiently and meet their short- and long-term goals. This career is a broad field that entails many types of managerial positions. A graduate could exceed S / 2,500 per month.
  • International Business Administration: A graduate of this specialty will be able to attend, coordinate and manage processes of import, export, introduction and dispatch of goods. The remuneration of this professional could exceed S / 2,000 per month.
  • Accounting: A technician in this area will be able to clearly and accurately record, organize and interpret all the accounting operations carried out by the business. It is an area that has greatly expanded its field of work, since the professional can work in any sector and his role is key for organizations to make timely and efficient decisions. An accountant can receive monthly S / 2,000.
  • Marketing: Marketers are able to design and sell products or services based on the needs of consumers. In addition, through the new digital tools, they can develop their activity in national and international markets. The remuneration can reach S / 2,800.

Finally, Fabián Espinel recommends that in order to obtain better job opportunities it is necessary to enhance the skills that companies require today to be more employable. “Creativity, critical thinking, collaborative work and innovation are some of the soft skills most valued by companies. However, there are also digital skills; that everyone should be trained, concludes the specialist.
