In order to build and validate an intersectoral and interinstitutional work scheme that improves the offer and quality of services for children and adolescents, in areas of greater vulnerability, the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) and The Ministries of Health, Education and Social Development analyzed this Wednesday the positive projections of the initiative.
With the support of Unicef, it is proposed to locally model a system that facilitates the provision, reference and articulation of basic services of promotion, prevention and responses to care for children and youth.
The Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, pointed out that the workshop will generate tools and strategies to have as a country a comprehensive network of services that aim to improve the conditions and quality of life of children and adolescents in health, education and primary childhood.
It is expected to guarantee, nationally and locally, the provision of necessary services. It is considered to reach the areas of child multidimensional poverty, which have been affected by the pandemic, to recover learning, generate school containment processes, prevent students from leaving the educational system and achieve significant and quality content to close gaps, pointed out the Minister of Education.
Meanwhile, the program manager of Unicef Panama, Javier Córdoba, said that given the challenges that children face in the country, in guaranteeing their rights, and in the face of the impact of the pandemic, they propose a local work model that allows effectively reach out to provide services for children and adolescents.
Córdoba explained that preliminary work will be done in some districts of Panamá Oeste and the Emberá Wounaan region, which have been identified based on the levels of multidimensional poverty and what is proposed is to reach the communities with services that improve their living conditions and, by articulating efforts, those in need are effectively reached
