THE VEGA.- La Vega Athletics Association will celebrate this Sunday its fourteenth version of the Vegan Athletics League Professor Luis Elpidio Cruz, an event to be held on the track of this discipline located in the sports complex of this city.
Alexis Peguero, president of the association, pointed out that the event will be dedicated to the 4×400 mixed relay quartet, made up of Marileidy Paulino, Fiordaliza CofilAlexis Ogando and Lidio Feliz, as well as the coach José Ludwig Rubio, the sports director of Monte Plata Isaac Ogando, the former javelin thrower and immortal of vegan sport Daniel Alonso, and Limber Cruz, Minister of Agriculture.
“They are personalities that dignify the national sport,” said Peguero. “We have everything set up. An extraordinary enthusiasm reigns among the athletes of the 32 associations that make up the Dominican Athletics Federation,” he added.
In the Vegan Athletics League, which will start at nine in the morning, three children’s categories will be competing, between 8-10 years old, who will be running in the 60 meters; from 10 to 12 years old in 80 meters, and from 12 to 14 years old in 80 meters.
At 9:45 in the morning, the League classic will take place in its open category format, where they will be running in the men’s 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1,500 meter flats. Meanwhile, the women will run in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 meters.
In addition, they will be competing in vertical or high jump, shot put in the two U-20 branches and in the discus throw in the female U-20 branch.
The winners of the first three places in each category will receive cash prizes, while in the children’s category they will be awarded medals.
