From July 13 to 18, the eleventh edition of the International Meeting Tales for an Ancient City, dedicated to the historian Eusebio Leal Spengler, will take place in the streets of the Historic Center of Havana.
The event will host storytellers from different countries to bring stories aimed especially at girls and boys from the communities to squares and parks. Osvaldo Manuel Pérez, director of that initiative, said that this time they want to do a different festival and that so far creators from Costa Rica and Mexico have confirmed their participation.
It was announced that tribute will be paid to the narrator, musician and actor Daniel Alberto Hernández, one of the defenders of the idea of honoring the storytellers and minstrels who went from town to town telling their stories.
The usual Arte de Contar prize will be awarded at the event to outstanding personalities in the promotion of reading and the use of scenic narration for social transformation and the search for values in children and adolescents.
It arose from a joint initiative of the Teatro de la Lengua, a member of the International Storytelling Network, and the Historian of the City, Eusebio Leal.
