This Wednesday, January 11, the hearing will be held for the designation of numbers and colors that will identify political organizations, within the framework of the electoral process of the 2023 general elections.
To this end, a preparatory meeting was held between the director of Political Parties, Jorgelina Candia, and officials from the Information and Communication Technology Directorate (ICT).
Candia mentioned that they are working on pre-hearings with the political organizations that will contest for the first time in these elections.
“They selected the color and numbers and we uploaded what was chosen on a computer platform and thus facilitate the procedure on January 11, the date on which the number and color assignment hearing will be held based on article 172 of the Law 834/96 Electoral Code”, he explained.
He added that there are 28 political parties that have already competed for positions in past elections, to which are added another seven new parties that will be presented for the first time. Likewise, seven political movements, five with a national scope and two with a regional scope.
He stressed that those who ran in previous elections have their numbers and colors assigned by law and that for each election, a public hearing is held where the general representatives of political organizations participate, to reach an agreement regarding the selection made by the new political organizations.
“Then a record will be drawn up where all the representatives of the political organizations must stamp their signature so that in this way the Superior Court of Electoral Justice can issue a resolution by which the numbers and colors are assigned to the political groups,” he finally added.
